Target 50k launched just 28 days ago on September 1st and today our Justgiving page received Its 100th donation which has taken us beyond £4000 and up to 8% of our target already. I’ve spoken before about how most of our major events will be in 2015 so to be where we are in such a short period of time before all our major fundraisers is just testament to the fantastic generosity and support we get from so many magnificent people.
As we passed by £3,500 this week it also meant our all time fundraising in just 5 years has gone past £75,000. When Target 50k hits £28,500 sometime in the future our all time total will then reach an amazing £100,000.
We held a little family disco on September 13th which was attended by over 100 people and helped to raise over £400 but other than that all the money raised has just come from people mucking in and thinking up their own little ways and means to do things so Target 50k can benefit. Massive thanks go out to Hayley and Ben Webster for all their help sorting things for the disco and to Ian Coleman and his team up at Jubilee Park for hosting us.
Last weekend saw us roll out our latest game in the shape of our Target 50k Premier Predictor football game which was the brainchild of my friend Jamie James. The response we had was staggering and for our first months game period we attracted 90 players. Meaning Target 50k benefited by £112.50 and left £337.50 In the prize pot for our top players. Me and Jamie had fun working our way through all the scores marking them and once we are up and running properly with it we will be providing weekly score updates right here on our website. Premier predictor is a monthly game so you can opt in or out as you please but for just £5 a month there is no reason not to be involved. To join us for our November game period please feel free to get in touch. We will be emailing out the spreadsheets in the last 10 days of October.
Our Coppers for Cancer pots which I had made up have been a great success and already benefited target 50k by over £250. The interest shown in the pots has led me and my chief helper on this little project Luke Harris to design some more robust forever lasting pots which will be named ‘Coins for Cancer’ and will be perfect for any shops pubs clubs etc etc and come complete with a security chain. We anticipate taking delivery of these by October 10th and will be more than happy to replace them for the ones you already had. Just empty as often as you like and either count up or drop the change into me and I will sort it.
September also saw us link up with a company doing great work both locally and nationally In Hotel Chocolat thanks to my friend Jamie Clark, they have been seeking a charity to support for some time and Jamie has sold Target 50k and CLIC Sargent to them superbly and this week we received a massive donation of £550 from them thanks to all the staff at their St Neots and Huntingdon branches led superbly by Jamie and Steve Sandell. This is a massively exciting partnership for us and provides even more great exposure for the cause. We can’t thank everyone involved enough for all their help.
October sees the start of a fundraising phenomenon which has made its way over from Australia in the shape of ‘Stoptober’ or ‘Gosober’ which sees people giving up the booze or the cigarettes for October. Good luck to the 5 people who have signed up for us already in Alan Baillie, Chris and Paula Lloyd, Matty O’Connor and Faye Dean. It’s not too late to get involved and sponsorship forms can be sent out in a flash but if you would prefer to wait then remember we will conducting our own Vice free January at the start of 2015…
Last but by no means least we are now less then 3 months away from our huge 1369 mile London to Lapland bike ride. Over 1000 miles have already been committed to including a fantastic idea from Alexis Kneath who can’t be there on the day but will be pedalling away with a friend for us from thousands of miles away in the Falklands. With just over 300 miles left up for grabs you need to be quick if you want to be part of this fantastic day.
Details of all the above events mentioned can be found here on our website by clicking the links above.
I hope to be back with our next update soon which will hopefully be when we have hit £5,000 and 10%.
Massive thank you to everyone for being part of this all.
