A huge year ahead…

2014 drew to a close with our fantastic Christmas fundraiser as we all gathered at the YMCA Gym in Peterborough for our epic 1400 mile static bike ride covering the distance from London to Lapland, we had such a fantastic day with so many smiley faces giving up their valuable time over the festive period to help us raise approximately £5,500 for our Justgiving page helping CLIC Sargent, this followed on from a hugely successful pub quiz and Christmas give away in December which has seen us move on since my last post on December 9th from £9,000 to over £17,000. It seems crazy we only started this latest mission in September, what a response we have had. We managed to raise over £31,000 in 2014 and our all time fundraising heads towards £90,000.Veronica Claxton Logo

2015 promises to be just as if not even more fruitful for the fantastic cause we support so passionately. Our diary for mass filled events continues to grow and with the guarantee of some fantastic people taking on their own challenges over the spring and summer by this time next year we may well have raised our £50,000 and a new plan could well be in place.

Vice free January has seen people hop on board and give up something they love for our cause, Felicity Parker-Seale, Johnny Evans, Cory Blose, Becky Pryor and Daniel Rodda have all done fantastic and raised some vital funds for the page, such a simple idea but one which helps us and from the sound of it has helped the participants as well! Don’t be put off by the name though, you are welcome to give up whatever you want whenever you want to help us along.

On March 29th a team of 18 of us are heading to London bright and early as we cycle the 85 miles around 14 football grounds in the capital. This is a new one for us all but we are really looking forward to a fantastic day.

April sees Jamie Clark (Boxing), Craig Flavell (London Marathon) and Rob Drage (double marathon) take on their own challenges for us before we get together for our marathon football match at Jubilee Park which proved such a winner last year.

In May/June time I will be putting on a London Tube station themed fancy dress party before our favourite day of the year on Friday 3rd July as our 7th memorial golf day takes place with our 120 golfers, last year saw us raise £8,500 in just one day and we cannot wait to do it all again.

At the end of July few of us will be putting together a Target 50k World Cup 5 a side tournament before late August sees a group of us tackle the huge 100km London to Cambridge walk.

With all that to come plus much more in between within a few short months who knows where our target will be. Luke has been gathering a huge number of fantastic signed sports memorabilia items lately which he has been using as prizes to help run various competitions to keep the page regularly moving along before all the fun of Spring and Summer begins. Our Premier league predictor game run by Jamie James and Luke continues to get a fantastic turn out every month and with more than 150 coins for cancer pots out there weaving their magic the income on the page should hopefully be on the move on all the time.

For any information on anything or to request a coins for cancer pot or to join our premier predictor game please don’t hesitate to contact Luke on Facebook or via any of the contact methods on this site.

Thanks as always for your fantastic continued support.
